Astra Parker
Astra Parker is an Adelaide based sculptor known for using steel to create remarkably organic forms derived from a fascination with species regeneration, life cycles and the interdependence of natural forms. An arduous process, the creation of her sculptures involves many steps before a finished result can emerge, embodying patterns of growth and cycles of renewal and restoration existing within life forms.
Parker obtained her Graduate Diploma of Visual Art and Design from the University of South Australia in 2012 and has since exhibited regularly in both solo and group shows across Australia, including at the Palmer Sculpture Biennial (2012) and the Heysen Sculpture Biennial (2012). In 2011, she was a highly commended Waterhouse Prize Finalist.
